Landscape Design

Landscape Design is a perfect intersection of art and science.

DESIGN

I like to utilize a variety of tools to help my clients visualize (and in turn collaborate on) landscape design.

For planting design especially, I’ve found a combination of landscape diagrams & photo collages work well both in the design process and to communicate to the client the vision. This method has proven successful for me on many projects and it continues to be my go-to method for planting design.

Rooted in plant availability & site requirements, these diagrams help in the design process, visualization & implementation.

DRAW

A clear landscape design drawing is a valuable asset and will guide you through implementation.

Drawings don't have to be strictly utilitarian.  Conveying a landscape design proposal or as-built map through pleasing imagery has many potential uses.

-To raise community awareness & support for potential projects.

-As visual plan for implementation.

-To be used in interpretational aids for visitors.

-To help homeowners gain HOA approvals for new landscaping.

GROW

Gardening and designing are two of my passions. I am not sure which came first, but in my case, they go hand in hand, for this is where the greatest challenges & rewards lie.

It doesn’t matter if the garden design looks good on paper, if it doesn’t thrive in reality, what’s the point? Plants make for an amazing and dynamic palette visually, but what I enjoy most is that they are living + some coaxing is involved.

This gallery includes many display gardens that I designed, installed & maintained during my time at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
